Inspiring Youth at Seafair

F/O Sara Baer and Kate Mokos, daughter of Capt. Scott Mokos, connect with students at Seafair.
Over 10,000 spectators of all ages flocked to the Museum of Flight's 2018 Jet Blast Bash—the official host venue for the Boeing Seafair Air Show—held August 4–5 in Seattle, Wash. ALPA Education Committee volunteers participated in this outdoor festival, which included static aircraft, booths, and other activities to promote science, technology, engineering, and math education and careers.
At an informational booth, F/O Sara Baer (ALA), F/O Lincoln Keill (DAL), and Capt. Scott Mokos (ALA) talked with over 500 youth about what it takes to become a professional airline pilot. They shared their experiences, outlined various career paths, and encouraged students to pursue their dreams of flight. In addition, Capt. Mokos' daughter, Kate, helped hand out information about ALPA's Cleared to Dream website—a comprehensive resource for aspiring aviators.
Students were excited to learn about the piloting profession—especially after watching the phenomenal demonstrations by the Blue Angels. The air show also featured displays by Fat Albert, an A-10, a PBY Catalina Flying Boat, and others.
