Since 2011, the Endeavor Air Master Executive Council (MEC) Negotiating Committee has ratified 143 letters of agreement and even more memorandums of understanding, making its joint collective bargaining agreement unparalleled in the fee-for-departure industry. In the last few years, the MEC has exceeded regular pace, securing the pilots an industry-leading and contractually guaranteed flow up to Delta Air Lines, industry-leading retention bonuses and compensation, as well as other improvements ranging from enhanced MEC safety data access and company cooperation to improved leave benefits and an end to the unpopular ready-reserve scheduling of junior pilots. In addition, the MEC has leveraged negotiating opportunities to advantageously settle numerous pilot grievances to help achieve one of the Association’s lowest grievance backlogs.
With a new but experienced officer team led by Capt. Jade Schiewe, MEC chair, and Capt. Peter Ruleman, MEC vice chair, the MEC is currently preparing for new opportunities associated with projected company growth and fleet expansion, as well as any typical but unforeseeable industry changes that may arise.
Guided by strategic priorities to further enhance career progression, compensation, and quality of life, and always seeking opportunities to build on best practices for safety, the new MEC team is prepared for whatever is on the horizon for the pilot group.
